“Ask questions, turn ideas in action!”
Westside is committed to listening to and working with its customers. The insights, skills and opinions of people who live in our homes will help to shape our services, projects and policies.
Westside staff and TAG participants will work together to discover how improvements can be made to Westside as a business and as a community, to better the lives of our tenants. You don’t have to participate in all events or engagement activities to be part of the group, or to have your opinions heard. Some people event give us their views on certain subjects via letter, email or phone call if they can’t make it in person.
How to get involved
Since the first meetings in 2018, participation in the Tenant Advisory Group (TAG) has included people who come along to events to have their say and want to remain engaged to give Westside feedback on various matters. After each event we communicate with participants, providing an outline of the discussion and actions we will take.
TAG events can be attended by all Westside tenants, but Westside sometimes uses the existing contact list to undertake email or phone engagement and obtain feedback.

What has the TAG achieved so far?
The first TAG event was held in early 2018. Since then, several of your suggestions and ideas have lead to service improvements for Westside.
You told us that some people needed extra help with cleaning and gardening.
You told us you would like an AGM-type event, to hear about what Westside has done for the year, and our plans for the future.
You wanted more information about your home and maintenance.
You have told us on several occasions that you want solar panels on your home, to lower power bills, to be able to run air-conditioning and heating and reduce carbon emissions.
We learnt more about My Aged Care, a service supporting people over 65 to stay in their home longer. We are now holding regular information sessions at sites with ACH Group and Red Cross on their services.
We started the ‘Meet the Board‘ event, the first of which was held in the city on October 31 2019.
We started the roaming ‘Monthly Maintenance Meetings’, where you can have a 1:1 30 minutes conversation with our Asset Manager, Paul, about your home, at a location close to you. You can view the annual calendar on the back page of each edition of Inside Westside.
Nearly 30% of our homes have solar panels. We have two trial sites with new solar panels and we continue to explore opportunities to improve energy efficiency and utility costs. We kept you informed about the Virtual Power Plant in 2018, we promoted ways you can install solar on your home in our newsletter, Inside Westside, we became NILS provider to help you access interest free finance to install air conditioners or buy better home appliances to save money on power bills. We promote energy efficiency home assessment via Yess Energy. We will continue this work ongoing.
