Coronavirus (COVID-19) – important information for customers

In these uncertain times, Westside Housing is acting swiftly and proactively to manage the impact of COVID-19 on our team, customers, and community.

We know that the events that are unfolding daily could present challenges in many areas and we are carefully considering Government advice and taking action to ensure that our team can continue to provide a service to you.

A range of measures have been implemented over the past few days within the team which relate to our customer contact, staff and social distancing.

Keeping healthy and safe is a priority for Westside Housing so that we can continue to provide a service to our customers. All of our team are still operational with no reports of any contact with known cases of COVID-19.

From Thursday, 19 March 2020, we have cancelled non-essential staff home visits and introduced social distancing at work. All team members are still working, with some working remotely and some being in the office.

Rental payments

Please make sure you continue to pay your rent and water regularly. We are aware that some customers may quickly start to experience financial hardship in the coming weeks and months. This will be a challenge for us all and we ask you to contact us immediately if your household income changes.

Rent Review

This week, many of you will receive your rent review letter. Please return your proof of income and the green declaration forms by email or post. If you need to bring anything into the office, please leave it in our letter box. We clear it twice a day.

Maintenance

Maintenance requests and coordination with our approved tradespeople is continuing. Our tradies have implemented practices to protect their teams and ensure that they can provide essential services, so when they contact you to confirm a visit, they will ask specific questions about health and travel, and we advise you to be ready for this.

Home visits

We have suspended non-urgent face to face home visits but may look at other ways of doing this by asking you to send us photographs instead, via phone or email. We will contact you about this individually if you have an inspection due or we need to check maintenance work.

With open dialogue, we are confident that Westside Housing and our trusted tradies alongside yourselves will be able to manage through this difficult time to ensure that your home is maintained well and everyone’s health is respected.
