Paid Urban Para Planner Cadetship – Applications Now Open

If you are intrigued by the art of urban planning, why not apply for one of the Para Planner Cadetships now on offer.

The Para Planner Cadetship program is a new initiative designed to develop skilled para planners who will play an important part in shaping the future of South Australia.

The program is open to all people under 21, including high school leavers, parents returning to the workforce wishing to be reskilled, or current staff looking to upskill.

HOW IT WORKS
The program spans for approximately 2.5 years and during this time you’ll study the Diploma of Local Government (Planning) [LGA50120] with TAFE SA, while gaining valuable hands-on experience at one of the program’s participating councils, agencies or planning firms.  You’ll be able to earn, while you learn as a built environment professional and help shape the future of our state.

The program is led by Planning and Land Services within the Department for Trade and Investment, with collaboration from TAFE SA, Department for Education and the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) – SA.

Stepping Into Summer Internship Program with the NDIA

Australian Network on Disability (AND) is now inviting applications for Stepping Into Summer 2023-24 program!

The Stepping Into Internship Program – Australian Network on Disability offers practical paid work experience for students or recent graduates with a disability.

The NDIA are proud supporters of this program each year and look forward to welcoming a strong cohort of students to join them over the summer period.

The internship is for a maximum of 152 hours of paid employment, as APS2 employees.

Participation in this program provides the students with meaningful work experiences. More importantly, it allows managers and supervisors at the NDIA to develop their skills in supporting staff with disability and become disability confident.

Introduction to Construction Pre Employment Program

SYC, in partnership with the SA Housing Authority are delivering more Build Your Career – Construction Pre employment Programs in 2024.

Build Your Career is a 5-week Construction Pre-employment Program that prepares job seekers for employment opportunities with builders and contractors working with SA Housing Authority. SYC deliver the course from their Elizabeth East location. More information is available below and from the attached flyer.

Build Your Career 2024 Course dates:

  • Northern: 5th February – 7th March 2024
  • Southern/Western: 12th March – 11th February 2024
  • Northern: 15th April – 16th May 2024
  • Southern/Western: 27th May – 27th June 2024

Course Overview

  • SYC, in partnership with Housing SA, is offering a building and construction pre-employment training course.
  • The course runs 4 days per week for 5 weeks. The course is a combination of classroom learning and practical construction work and aims to provide skills and training to prepare participants for job opportunities with Housing SA pre-approved builders and maintenance contractors.
  • Times: 9.30am- 4.00pm

Required

  • motivation and commitment to gain work in the building and construction industry.
  • A pair of Steel Capped boots
  • Must complete an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN)
  • High visibility vests and general PPE will be provided.
  • All learners must provide their USI upon enrolment.
  • All participants of the course must provide 100 points of identification with at least 1 form of photo identification.

$50.00 participant contribution

Outcomes

Participants in the Build Your Career course will have an opportunity to gain on the job training at a real construction site which will give them valuable work experience.

Due to strong relationships with contractors working with the SA Housing Authority past participants of this course have been successful in securing work trials and subsequent employment opportunities.
