Westside does not have any crisis housing. If you need emergency housing please call Homeless Connect SA 1800 003 308
Social housing
Westside’s social rental homes are for people on a very low or moderate income facing homelessness and with barriers preventing accessing affordable housing in the private market. Generally people will be working with a support agency to receive an offer of housing. Rent for these homes is subsidised and is between 25% and 30% of household income as determined by current SA government policy.
To be eligible you must live in SA, not own or part-own a home and meet income, cash and asset eligibility limits. All social housing applications including public housing are through a shared register on a common application form. You can apply at our office or any Housing SA or community housing providers office.
Affordable housing
Westside’s affordable rental homes are for people on low to moderate incomes who are unable to secure affordable housing in the private market. To ensure that other basic living costs are affordable the rent is subsidised and is discounted by up to 25.1%. We own a small number of these homes and most are specifically for veterans, older persons or women and their children. Any vacancies will be listed here.
Supported housing
Westside rents a small number of affordable homes to people experiencing homelessness through the SA government’s supported housing program. All tenants receive support from our support partners funded as a Specialist Homelessness Service.
To be eligible you need to be referred by one of these services.
Applications
Anyone can apply for housing with us and we keep all applications for up to 12 months. We only get a few vacancies a year, when they come up, we interview for our affordable housing from the applications received. Unfortunately, not every applicant is guaranteed a home through our organisation and we encourage people to apply to multiple housing providers where possible and through the Single Housing Register, if eligible.
