Social and Affordable Housing at Prospect

Safe and affordable housing provides an opportunity for people to thrive in our community.

This development was delivered by Westside Housing through the State Government’s Community Housing Asset Renewal Program. The four high-quality homes are tenure-blind and provide a mix of social and affordable rental housing, helping to meet demand from people on very low to moderate incomes. This project is part of a larger development program to renew and improve our housing stock, delivering homes that are more fit for contemporary living.

The project transformed the site through the demolition of a 1948 dwelling and the construction of four spacious three-bedroom townhouses.
Set on a 795m² site, the townhouses range in size from 141m² to 156m² and have been designed to provide comfortable, modern homes for residents.

The social housing will be allocated through the Social Housing Register, and the affordable housing advertised through realestate.com
Allocation of the social housing homes will occur through the Social Housing Register, with affordable rental opportunities advertised via realestate.com.au.

Key Features
There are four new homes, all three-bedroom town houses with private rear yards and a garage under the main roof with internal access. Three have ensuite facilities, all have an additional toilet on the ground floor. All have ducted air conditioning to the ground and upper levels.

Double glazing has been provided to the road-facing dwelling, and insulation has been installed in all walls and ceilings, as well as sarking insulation beneath the steel roof. The homes are well positioned in a growing and revitalised neighbourhood, with parks, open spaces and everyday amenities just a short walk away, and the Churchill Centre less than 1km.

Affordable rental housing at Blair Athol

A safe, secure and affordable home can be life-changing, providing the stability people need to build a brighter future.

In Blair Athol, Westside Housing has replaced two outdated properties with ten contemporary family homes, delivering more affordable housing opportunities for local households.

The development reinforces our commitment to this community while creating further opportunities for residents to access local services, build connections and feel part of the neighbourhood.

The homes will be advertised through realestate.com.au and shared with our support partners. Offering discounted rents at 74.9% of market rent and located close to transport, shops and community facilities, these homes are expected to attract strong interest from prospective tenants.

Safe and secure housing project

At Westside Housing we understand that when women make the decision to leave it is vital that they have somewhere safe to go.

Our latest project will provide a safe and supportive environment for women and their children to recover.  It is located inner in the inner north-west only 5km from the city and a short walk to public transport and other facilities.

There will be four new homes, both 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom to suit a variety of family circumstances.  These homes are modern and open plan with private backyards and additional safety features.  They will be available to women and their children who are living on low incomes and who are registered on the Social Housing Register.

Normus are our builder partner in this project, and we look forward to completion in November 2022.

New affordable housing for Kilburn

Our team are excited to see this project underway

Ten new 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom townhouses in Kilburn to help meet the ever growing demand for high quality, affordable rentals in a great location. A stones throw away from shops, buses and medical facilities this is the ideal location to alleviate the expense of a car, adding to the affordability for  residents.

We know that loneliness is an increasing issue particularly for people living alone and these homes are walking distance from our soon to be completed site in Florence Avenue Blair Athol. This will give residents an opportunity to easily foster interactions and connections in the local  community.

Julie Blake, Westside Housing’s CEO, said “We’re looking forward to seeing these new homes take shape. Affordable rental housing at a subsidised  rent is a great option for people who may not qualify for social housing.”

Set for completion in December 2021, Westside Housing is delighted to be working with Cook Building on this project.
