Proud recipients of local arts awards
The Community Housing Arts (CHARTs) awards were recently held at a ceremony attended by the Premier of South Australia Steven Marshall at Adelaide Town Hall. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the diversity and talent of community housing tenants through art.
Prizes included $500 and industry mentoring and were offered in four categories for emerging and experienced artists including 2D Framed/Hanging, 3D/Sculpture, Photography, Digital and Graphic, and Poetry and Literature.
Westside Housing was very proud to have six tenant artists as finalists and of these, three were category winners. Congratulations to Lily, Zach and Sabrina as finalists and JR, Frankie and Anna as category winners.
Westside’s CEO, Julie Blake, said “at Westside we are constantly blown away by the interesting and often hidden talents of people living in our homes. The CHARTS Awards provided a great opportunity to celebrate these talents ”.
It is hoped that the awards will be held again in 2022. An exhibition of finalists work will be open to the public at The Mill Adelaide art gallery in January 2022. We encourage you to pop into The Mill 154 Angas Street Adelaide and see for yourself.
