Quality rental homes at an affordable price in a safe and
convenient location, with solar panels to reduce household costs.
This project was completed in December 2022 just in time for Christmas and it delivers 4
new accessible homes in partnership with the SA Housing Authority under the Community
Housing Asset Renewal Program (CHARP).
The project includes safety features, secure private spaces, accessible bathrooms and
entries, solar panels, and modern facilities. Its location, less than 6km north-west of the city
means residents have access to nearby education facilities, employment opportunities,
support services and shopping centres.
The project delivered by Normus Homes resulted in safe, appropriate and high-quality
homes built in record time.
Westside Housing’s CEO Julie Blake said being able to access social housing such as these
homes at the right time is a crucial element to keeping women and their children safe from
family violence. It is preferable for women to stay in their home but sometimes it is not safe to
do so, and we need housing options for these women.
In addition to the safety benefits, we know building new social housing to support people
fleeing family violence more than pays for itself in averted costs and economic spin-off
benefits. More details in the July 2021 Equity Economics report NOWHERE TO GO.
